Ideas for Engaging Teen Retreats

I’m brainstorming ways to make our next retreat really memorable for the teens in our group. Last year, we integrated a lot of interactive worship elements, and it was a huge hit! What activities or themes have worked well for your events? I’d love to hear some fresh ideas.

How about a ‘Faith in Action’ service project? It’s like a workout, but for the soul! You could tie in team-building and end with a fun reflection time.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌

A themed scavenger hunt could be awesome! It gets everyone moving and exploring together. Have you tried that before? :raising_hands:.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

And one idea that’s worked really well for us is incorporating a creative arts night where the teens can express their faith through painting or music. It tends to create a relaxed atmosphere and encourages deeper discussions. Have you considered how you might integrate art into your retreat activities?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I totally get how tough it is to keep things fresh for the teens. Last retreat, we set up a talent show where they could share their gifts — music, poetry, even some skits. It was a bit chaotic, but seeing them engage with each other and their faith made it all worth it.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

Have you thought about incorporating a mission project — it really gets the teens involved and can create lasting memories. Last year, we organized a community service day that allowed them to bond over making a difference. What kind of outreach efforts are popular in your community?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

What about hosting a ‘crazy games night’ where you mix team-building games with fun challenges — it’s like a youth group meets ‘American Ninja Warrior’ vibe. And, hey, if you can bring in a high-energy snack bar, that’s a win-win.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌
