I’m building next month’s 4th-6th grade lesson plan and want to vet a question: Which Gospel alone includes the Good Samaritan, and how might you connect it to a service project? I’ll share the answer and our activity tie-in after tonight’s 6:30 pm planning meeting.
It’s Luke, and I’d pair it with a quick “neighbor bag” project — kids pack snack/hygiene kits for the nurse’s office or a local shelter and tuck in a card with “Go and do likewise” (Luke 10:37), no donkey rental required. If supplies are limited, swap to a 15‑minute “thank-you notes to unseen helpers” blitz (custodians, bus drivers) to fit your timing.
Luke’s the only one. I’ve had good luck reading Luke 10:25–37 together, then letting kids assemble mini first-aid kits (bandages, wipes, gloves) for the ushers’ carts — tangible echo of the Samaritan’s care; passage here: Luke 10:25-37 - The Parable of the Good Samaritan - On - Bible Gateway. If supplies are tight, swap in a one-minute ‘see, stop, serve’ pledge card — would 12 minutes fit your block?
